Plein Air – Beauty Bound – back cover

Lachine Canal, acrylic on luaun board. Once I started to do bookarts in plein air, I pretty much gave up working on board, and eventually gave up exhibitions and shows too. But I have kept all my work and now find they make excellent wooden covers for books! I just dug this one out of the stash and it fit almost perfectly, needing only 1″ cut from the top, which made it a better composition in fact. There’s palette knife and brush work, paint skins and acrylic mediums on a sanded and gessoed surface, pre-painted in dioxazine purple.
